From Global Runways to London’s Royal Albert Hall: Awar Odhiang Claims Model of the Year
The British Fashion Council (BFC) has officially named breakout model Awar Odhiang as Model of the Year for The Fashion Awards 2026.
She will be formally honoured at the upcoming ceremony on Monday, November 30, 2026, held at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.
Global Impact & Industry Recognition
The Model of the Year award celebrates a fashion icon whose global influence has reshaped the industry over the past 12 months through catwalk presence, major editorial work, and contributions beyond the runway.
Awar’s 2026 season was defined by career milestones, including her first Vogue cover photographed by Rafael Pavarotti for Vogue Italia in February, as well as editorial covers for i-D, AnOther, and Harper’s Bazaar France.
A specialized jury chaired by casting director Anita Bitton selected Awar for the honor. The panel praised her authenticity, work ethic, and ability to stay grounded while achieving high-fashion acclaim.
“To be recognised as Model of the Year is an incredible honour. I have always believed that you can be both kind and strong, both gentle and resilient. You never have to dim your light to belong, nor lose your softness to prove your strength.”
— Awar Odhiang
“Awar has brought a truly special energy to fashion this year, reminding us that the industry is at its best when individuality, authenticity and joy are celebrated.”
— Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council
