New swimwear brand F & Wild London will see customers through the summer – even if a dip in the local lido is as near to the tropics as they get.
Founder Njoki Muchuki launched the women’s swim brand’s debut pieces, Lamu Collection, named after Muchuki’s birthplace in Lamu Island in Kenya, in March 2021.
It includes two bikini styles – Kami, a halter-neck, and Dee, a bandeau – and a plunging, double-layered Alice swimsuit.
A believer in slow fashion, Mukuchi will focus on products that will outlast trends.
F & Wild swimwear uses Econyl® regenerated nylon, which is made from nylon waste found in landfills and oceans, allowing the swimsuits to be recycled.
All items are designed and handmade in a small studio in Greenwich, south-east London, where Muchuki ensures fair living wages are paid and ethical working standards are maintained. Before launching the brand, Muchuki previously worked with disadvantaged local communities, charities and local governments.
