I’m being pressured to get married – Yemi Alade cries out
Renowned Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has revealed that members of her family and friends have been mounting pressure on her to tie the knot.
Speaking during her recent interview on Cool FM, the singer expressed her frustration with the pressure to wed and start a family.
Despite the widespread rumours of her marriage to her manager, Alade subtly clarified her relationship status by saying, “People often get married, especially towards the end of every year. I’m not feeling pressured. When the time is right, it will happen”.
She went on to acknowledge the challenging nature of family pressure, explaining that it’s difficult to resist because it is from those she respects and admires.
However, she said if they genuinely have her best interests at heart, they will exhibit patience and recognize the fact that finding the right life partner is more important than just rushing into marriage.
Alade emphasized the importance of not hurrying into a decision to be with the wrong partner, asserting that such a choice can have lasting consequences.
“Family pressure is a challenging thing to resist because it’s coming from the people I respect and look up to, insisting that I should get married. However, I believe that if they genuinely have my best interests at heart, they will be patient with me because finding the right partner is more crucial than just getting married.
“But beyond that, I don’t think anyone should rush into making the wrong decision of being with the wrong partner.”
