THIS NIGERIAN FEMALE RAPPER LOWKEY LANDED A GRAMMY NOMINATION
When the Grammy nominations were announced couple of weeks ago, Wizkid’s smash hit with Drake “One Dance” was in many minds a viable contender for a ‘Record of the Year’ nomination and a way to advance Afrobeat’s crossover from World music to Popular music. However, WizKid was not the Nigerian artist to push through, instead Lagos-based female rapper Kah-Lo landed her first Grammy nomination for the hypnotic dance track, “Rinse & Repeat”.
Rinse and Repeat is about “Christmas in Lagos, Nigeria. It’s a party everyday.”
As with many modern day artistic collaborations, it was Twitter that brought Kah-Lo and French house producer Riton together. According to Kah-Lo, Rinse and Repeat is about “Christmas in Lagos, Nigeria. It’s a party everyday.” Watch the Grammy nominated video for Best Dance Record here:
